This course is designed to focus on nursing law, jurisprudence and ethical leadership, ethical problems and dilemmas that nurses may experience as they carry out their roles and responsibilities as health professionals. Hypothetical problems dealing with ethical issues in intrapersonal, interpersonal relationships, life and death issues, and individual rights and choices will provide a framework for the development of a sound theoretical base and philosophical approach for critical analysis of such ethical problems and the development of strategies for addressing them.

COURSE OUTCOMES:

1.    Articulate a position paper based on the critique of the implementation of Philippine Nursing Law and proposed Comprehensive Nursing Law towards advocating for the betterment of quality of life of Filipino nurses in public and private sector and achievement of Universal Health Care.

2.    Apply knowledge of bioethical concepts, principles, theories, nursing laws and relevant regulatory/statutory laws in the critical analysis of current ethical issues and dilemmas in the professional practice of nursing across varied workplace setting.

3.    Uphold the characteristics of an ethical nursing leader in effectively managing varied nursing practice setting.   

4.    Engage in life-long learning to keep abreast with advancement in nursing at a global, national, regional and local level.
